The following message has been emailed and/or mailed to all GDPA members:

Dear GDPA Member, I have been asked to forward the following message to you. This, along with any future updates, will be posted on the association website at www.marshallgold.org.  Lois Fortress, GDPA President

As you are all aware, the State of California is in the worst budget crisis in history. Many people have had questions regarding the future of Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park.  As with so many other parks throughout the state, the short term future for Marshall Gold Discovery SHP remains uncertain.

We would like to invite all of you to a meeting to discuss the “State of the Park” on Thursday August 13th at 3:30 p.m. in the picnic area behind the museum.  Please bring a lawn chair and be prepared to listen as well as engage in discussion of potential ideas to save Marshall Gold Discovery SHP from closure.

Scott Nakaji, Gold Fields District Superintendent ,California State Parks
