GDPA's MEMBERSHIP DRIVE for 2010 is underway. All of GDPA's funds stay in Marshall Gold Discovery SHP to fund the interpretive and educational projects and programs. This year we expect to have a significant reduction in income from the store due to cuts in park staff and allowed number of school tours. Your support is greatly needed as we try to pick up some of the services from DPR during California's financial crisis.

Santa Photos taken at Christmas in Coloma on Saturday and Sunday will all be emailed and mailed this week. We started yesterday and should finish today with the emailed photos and will get the printed ones into the mail tomorrow. Sorry for any inconvenience. The pictures are all edited individually to provided the best photo possible. Thanks for your support of Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park and GDPA.

 We made several changes this year based on the surveys from last year's vendors.  Lots of entertainment and a contest for the best decorated tent. 

 If you would like to volunteer to help with the event or sponsor a part of it, contact the GDPA office.

 The 2009 Annual membership meeting was held at the Sierra Nevada House Thursday evening, November 12th.Cake and snacks were served, 2009 accomplishments were discussed, and 2010 challenges presented. Scott Najaki, Gold Fields District Superintendent gave an update on the park changes and expectations for the future. The guest speaker was Ms. Laura Bekeart Dietz, great granddaughter of the owner of Bekeart Gun Shop in Coloma in the 1850s. The history she shared was interesting and her vision for Coloma was exciting. On behalf of GDPA I'd like to express my appreciation to Laura for traveling to Coloma from southern California just for our annual meeting.
